Google Maps has abruptly left the Apple's scene when iOS 6 and iPhone 5 were launched, the mapping service offered by the search engine giant has been replaced with an alternative developed by Apple. Its problems we already know very well, so launching a new a Google Maps application for iOS 6 can bring joy to iPhone's users.
   Google Maps for Apple's mobiles is available for free download in the App Store, offering a better alternative solution not just for Apple Maps, but also for old Google Maps app for iOS 5 devices.
   From the list of available updates  we can mention the voice support guidance with the turn-by-turn system, newly introduced to the latest version of Google Maps for iOS. We have support for localized information related searches of  nearby located objectives. Street View for guidance and exploring the streets of big cities, but also an information system for those who use the public transport.
   Unfortunately, the current version of Google Maps for iOS 6 is only compatible with iPhone, the iPad optimized version will be launched at a later date.

   Apple has bought in the last six months 1024 technology patents from Rockstar Consortium.
   Most of the patents are related to communication technologies, including wireless technology, wireless 4G, data networking, optical fiber communications, voice, Internet and semiconductors.
   Rockstar Consortium Inc. is an organisation owned by EMC, Sony, Microsoft, RIM, Ericsson and Apple and formed to negotiate Nortel's patents after its bankruptcy.
   The 6000 patents has bought at auction from Nortel by Rockstar Consortium that had cost $4.5 billion, Apple has participated with $2.5 billion.

   The newest analysis of  the smartphones market, conducted by Strategy Analytics, shows that Samsung Galaxy S III is, at this moment, the most popular terminal. It has gained a market share of 10.7%, compared to 9.7% of the iPhone 4S. iPhone 5 ,Apple's latest smartphone was released  very little time ago and failed to reach the top of the stack. Even so, it has a serious rate of 3.6%.
   Samsung Galaxy S III has very good sales in the recent quarters. It took advantage of the fact that the iPhone 4S has been sold very poorly before the launch of iPhone 5. But analysts say that the Galaxy S III will soon be overthrown. Sales of iPhone 5 will explode during the holiday season.    Apple's event on October 23 will include other announcements, not just an iPad Mini and a MacBook Pro 13.3-inch with Retina Display. It seems that Apple is preparing a new version of the Mac mini and a refreshed iMac.
   The new Mac mini series will be available immediately after the presentation in two versions, with different processors and storage space and a third running OS X Server.
   Mac mini received the last design update in 2010 and newer processors in 2011, and the new generation will probably have USB 3.0 connectivity.
   Apart from the three new products, there speculation about a new iMac series, thinner and with an improved design. If this is true, the first version available  will probably be the 21.5-inch iMac.

   Apple's new mobile operating system, iOS 6, causes some problems on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S: with the complex functions of the new iOS 6 the smartphone battery hold less and less.
  For some users of the iPhone 4S, iOS 6 massively consumes the phone battery: 10% of total capacity consumed each hour while the phone is in the pocket, with the screen closed.
  On Apple's technical forums, over 200 iPhone 4 and 4S users have complained about the low battery autonomy and the fact that the phone heats up more, after installing iOS 6.
 The first suspect for the excessive battery consumption was Maps, but also users who have not used it at all and not using GPS location services, had problems with smartphone's battery.

   Verizon Wireless said Monday that it won't prevent its version of the iPhone 5 from being used on AT&T's network.
   The Verizon version of the iPhone 5, which went on sale Friday, came with an unexpected feature: it works on the network of AT&T and many other phone companies, as well as on Verizon's.
It's the first time Verizon, the country's largest cellphone company, has sold a phone that works on competing U.S. networks with no complicated hacking, or "unlocking," procedures.
   Last year, the first shipments of the Sprint iPhone 4S were unlocked and worked on AT&T, but Sprint later issued software updates that turned off that capability.
   Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney said Monday that Verizon does not plan to relock the iPhone 5.
   The feature may mean little initially to most buyers, since they sign up for two years of Verizon service when buying the phone. But it does give them the option to switch carriers when the contract expires, or they can sell the phone to someone who plans to use it on a competing network. They also have the option of breaking the contract, paying an early termination fee, and signing up for cheaper service —the Verizon iPhone 5 even works on prepaid service plans.
   Verizon and Sprint do "unlock" other phones on request, but only for use on non-U.S. networks. They do so to let travelers save money by using local SIM cards and accounts when overseas.
Even unlocked, Verizon iPhones are tied to Verizon's network: it's the only one that can provide them with "4G LTE" data speeds. The Verizon iPhone 5 can access AT&T's non-LTE "4G" network, which has slightly lower speeds.
   T-Mobile USA, the country's fourth-largest phone company, has a network that's compatible with the Verizon iPhone 5 for voice calls and low-speed data. It's revamping the network in a way that will make it compatible with the iPhone 5 for high-speed data as well, and last week started actively marketing to iPhone 4 owners.
   Sprint Nextel said Monday that its iPhone 5s are locked. Customers in good standing for at least three months can ask to have them unlocked for international use only. AT&T unlocks phones once they're out of contract.

   Neither side in a bitter patent battle is satisfied with Apple Inc.'s $1 billion jury verdict over Samsung Electronics after a three-week trial this summer.
   Samsung wants a new trial. Apple is seeking an additional $707 million in damages and interest.
   The two companies filed a blizzard of legal papers late Friday and early Saturday with their demands that a federal judge in San Jose significantly amend — or toss out altogether — the jury's Aug. 24 verdict.
   The jury found that 26 Samsung products ripped off Apple's technology at the heart of its iPhones and iPads.
U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh has scheduled a Dec. 6 hearing to discuss the myriad issues raised by both companies. Samsung says it will appeal if Koh turns down its demands.

The iOS6 rollout started just two days ago and the results are nothing short of spectacular. According to Chitika stats, more than 15 percent of all iOS devices were successfully updated to iOS 6 within just 24 hours.
Chitika described the speed and success of the update as a testament to Apple’s vertical product structure and we couldn’t agree more. Any Android user, even the few Nexus users around, will tell you that getting updates is somewhat of an issue.
In fact, most Android devices are still stuck on Gingerbread, a two-year old OS. ICS penetration recently crept north of 20 percent just a few weeks ago and Jelly Bean penetration is at 1.5 percent, two months post launch. In fact, not a single non-Nexus device got an official Jelly Bean update yet and even some Galaxy Nexus users are still waiting for it.

Equipped with a Samsung Exynos 4412 quad-core chipset , operating at 1.4 GHz, Galaxy S3 get in the Geekbench test an overall score of 1588 points, slightly lower than that measured for the iPhone 5.

   Apple has sold out the initial batch of iPhone 5 units ready for launch, with the online Apple store showing a 2-3-week shipping estimate on orders placed today. A spokesperson for the Cupertino, California-based technology mammoth said the company is “blown away” by the public’s reception.
   Apple on Wednesday unveiled the iPhone 5 to the world for the first time. Critics have been relentless, accusing the Cupertino company of stagnating, forgetting what Apple's chief designer had said: “We didn’t want to just make a new phone. We wanted to make a much better phone! iPhone 5 is the result of this approach.” 
   And the customers are getting it. One hour into the launch on store.apple.com, customers had already scooped up the allotted first run.
Shipping estimates are now up at 2-3 weeks, and they might even reach four weeks, if the statement from spokeswoman Natalie Kerris is any indication.
   Asked by the WSJ-owned All Things D to provide a statement on the huge demand for the latest Apple handset, Kerris said “Pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible. We’ve been completely blown away by the customer response.”
   “iPhone 5 is the most beautiful consumer device that we’ve ever created,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, on Wednesday, after the launch event.
   “We’ve packed an amazing amount of innovation and advanced technology into a thin and light, jewel-like device with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, blazing fast A6 chip, ultrafast wireless, even longer battery life; and we think customers are going to love it,” said Schiller.
   iPhone 5 comes in either white & silver or black & slate, and will be physically available on September 21 in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK.
