The electronics manufacturers who will launch Windows 8 tablets, followed the example of Microsoft Surface tablets. Most of them will have detachable removable included in the price or available as separate accessories.
The only major manufacturer that has decided not to offer yet a Windows 8 tablet with keyboard is Dell.
After the iPad has caused declines in the sales of laptops, a tablet that serves also as an ultrabook could cause losses for Apple.

AMD's platform for tablets with Windows 8

Posted by cnetwork On Tuesday, October 9, 2012 0 comments
Soon we will have Windows 8 tablets based on the AMD hardware, these tablets will be cheaper than the alternatives based on Intel  Clover Trail and will have an unbeatable 3D performance.
The new superstar is the AMD Z-60 APU, codenamed Hondo, which the company will bring on the market later this year, propelling a new wave of Windows 8 tablets.
The elements of attraction for future Windows 8 tablets with AMD hardware are: the x86 compatibility with PC applications, autonomy up to 10 hours on a tablet and can attach to a docking station with keyboard and mouse for converting the tablet into a notebook.
Unlike Clover Trail platform with Intel Atom processor, the new AMD chip focuses primarily on 3D skills, announcing gaming performance even 5-6 times higher than is possible with an Intel tablet, which opens new horizons for Windows 8 tablets. Basically, tablets with AMD's APU could get a whole new utility, serving as gaming platforms with access to titles that we expect to meet only on a console or on PC systems.
According to AMD, on Windows 8 tablets built on their platform you can play games like Modern Warefare 2 and Orcs Must Die at medium quality settings and a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. For movies you can  attach a TV or monitor with HDMI and play them at a resolutions up to 1920x1200 pixels. However, AMD recommends that for the best viewing of the videos to confine ourselves to materials with 720p resolution.
AMD Z-60's power consumption will be less than 5W , which accommodate in the tablets under 10mm thickness and weight comparable to conventional tablets with ARM processors. Autonomy varies from 6 hours for watching movies,  8 hours for surfing on the internet or up to 10 hours on the Windows Presentation Mode, of  the text documents and PowerPoint presentations. According to AMD, the autonomy for standby is almost 2 weeks.

Bill Gates gives Windows 8 his stamp of approval

Posted by cnetwork On Sunday, September 30, 2012 0 comments
Microsoft’s most famous face has given Windows 8 his stamp of approval. During a recent interview with the Associated Press to discuss the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s participation in a global mission to end polio, Bill Gates made a few comments about Microsoft’s upcoming operating system.
Gates told the AP he is already using Windows 8 and is very pleased with it. Unsurprisingly, the co-founder of Microsoft believes Windows 8 will be a big deal partly because hardware partners are doing “great things” to take advantage of the OS' new features.
We’re less than a month away from what will be one of Microsoft’s biggest overhauls of Windows ever. Most expect the operating system to be pivotal in deciding the future of personal computers as smartphones and tablets continue to overshadow the tried and true PC.
Of course, Microsoft is prepared should personal computers continue their downward spiral. Versions of the operating system will additionally be shipping on tablets and smartphones come October 26. It's an important step as the Windows & Windows Live division represented 27 percent of the company’s revenue in 2011. But as the numbers indicate, it’s not all about their legendary operating system these days.
The company has been diversifying their product line to include much more than software. Their gaming division is anchored by the industry-leading Xbox 360 gaming console which just so happens to be developing into a major media hub in living rooms across the world. Redmond also makes a decent profit by supplying computer services to businesses and corporations.
Either way, there's no denying that there will be a lot of pressure on Microsoft to deliver big in the next several months.

AMD teams up with BlueStacks

Posted by cnetwork On Saturday, September 29, 2012 0 comments
AMD has joined forces with BlueStacks in an effort to bring Android apps to Windows tablets. BlueStacks is the outfit behind Android App Player, a Windows app that enables users to run Android apps on tablets.
Since AMD is not in the ARM game, it could obviously benefit from bringing some popular Android apps to Windows, allowing users to play a few levels of Bad Piggies on Hondo tablets.
However, apps have to be vetted before users can take end up on the AMD AppZone, but it is also possible to install other applications.
The BlueStacks Android Player will also run on Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs, and it even supports Windows XP.
In the long run, the possibility of running Android apps could be very interesting for consumers thinking about getting a Windows 8 tablet, as it will combine Microsoft’s unmatched enterprise solutions with fun and popular Android apps. Provided the whole thing works as advertised, of course.
